Shahwali Shayan, a creative technologist and multidisciplinary artist, draws inspiration from intensive autoethnographic research, a method through which he uncovers patterns and offers insights into contemporary society. His practice bears a profound imprint of Dada, the art movement, which significantly shapes his artistic approach.

Intrigued by the juxtaposition of 3D-scanned physical objects in digital environments and the transformation of handmade physical art into digital artefacts, his work explores altering the perception of mundane everyday objects.

Through his creative studio Shahnanigans, he has collaborated on innovative AR campaigns with companies like Samsung, Disney, Netflix, Adobe, Hugo Boss, Sony Music, Santander Bank, Ubisoft, Thomas Cook, and Avon Cosmetics. His work has accumulated over 35 billion views.

Shahwali’s background in academic research, AR/XR, digital strategy, and creative direction informs his practice. He also shares his expertise as an AR educator and lecturer at the Royal College of Art.
